Football Game Recap: Sangre de Cristo vs. Dove Creek

Dove Creek won the last time they faced Sangre de Cristo, and things went their way on Saturday, too. Dove Creek put a hurting on Sangre de Cristo to the tune of 64-12. Dove Creek were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.

Dove Creek got off to a slow start in their previous match, but they had no such trouble against Sangre de Cristo and cruised to a 40-point first half. Sangre de Cristo came up with 6 to make it 40-6 heading into the break. The Dove Creek defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the contest. The win bumped Dove Creek's record up to 3-2. Sangre de Cristo are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-4.

Dove Creek will look to defend their home turf next week against Del Norte at 6:00 PM. Dove Creek will be strutting in after a victory while Del Norte will be stumbling in from a loss. As for Sangre de Cristo, they will face off against Mancos. Sangre de Cristo stagger into the match hobbled by four consecutive losses while Mancos skip in buoyed by four consecutive wins.
