Brawley fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Palm Desert on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Aztecs by a score of 5-4. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Sergio Garcia put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Jacob Magana was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Tate Preece was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Brawley now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Palm Desert, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
