Softball Recap: Oakdale Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Oakdale hadn't done well against Coalfield recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Eagles walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

The result came thanks to Rhylan Hicks's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Oakdale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Smith has posted since back in April.

Oakdale pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Coalfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-6-2.

As of now, neither Oakdale nor the Yellow Jackets have any future games scheduled.
