Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainfield East). They walked away with a 79-72 win over the Plainfield South Cougars on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bengals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Cougars are ranked 146th).

The win (which was Plainfield East's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-17. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points over those games. As for Plainfield South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainfield East won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Downers Grove South at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Plainfield East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Downers Grove South likes a good challenge. As for Plainfield South, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Elgin at 6:30 p.m.
