Baseball Game Preview: Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks vs. Casa Grande Gauchos

Tamalpais hasn't had much luck against Casa Grande recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks will challenge the Casa Grande Gauchos at 1:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Tamalpais got the win against Vintage by a conclusive 12-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Tailed Hawks.

Jackson Van Til looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Henry Stoll and Dara Zolfaghari did most of the damage at the plate: Stoll scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Zolfaghari went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Stoll a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Cooper Kift, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Tamalpais always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vintage only posted an OBP of .211.

Meanwhile, Casa Grande took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They never let Rancho Cotate get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.

Tamalpais came up short against Casa Grande when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 5-1. Can Tamalpais avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
