Basketball Game Preview: Papillion-LaVista South Titans vs. Gretna Dragons

The Papillion-LaVista South Titans will take on the Gretna Dragons at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Papillion-LaVista South is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Millard West on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Papillion-LaVista South had to suffer through a 65-37 loss at the hands of Millard West. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Papillion-LaVista South saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maizey Macke went 6-for-12 to rack up 16 points and four steals. Macke continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Addison Medeck was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Gretna beat Standing Bear 44-34 on Saturday.

Gretna's win came from a few key players Papillion-LaVista South will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ava Mcartor, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Marshall, who had ten points.

Papillion-LaVista South's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Gretna, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-13.

Papillion-LaVista South strolled past Gretna in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 39-20. Does Papillion-LaVista South have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gretna turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
