Balboa was the 59-40 winner over Drew when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Balboa Buccaneers took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Drew Dragons on Friday. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jason Hart, who had 14 points plus seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gene Cuares, who scored 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Balboa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Kian Chan was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 21 en route to 26 points plus two steals for Drew. Chan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Max Oelerich was another key player, earning nine points.

Balboa will face off against Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Drew, they and Washington will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Drew is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
