Basketball Game Preview: Father Capodanno Grunts vs. Haw River Christian Academy Archers

The Father Capodanno Grunts will take on the Haw River Christian Academy Archers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Father Capodanno is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. 2025 welcomed they with a 49-29 loss courtesy of Asheboro Hybrid Academy. One positive for the Grunts, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Father Capodanno got top-tier performance from Aubrey Driscoll, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. That's the most points Driscoll has posted since back in December of 2023. Emma Klotz was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Father Capodanno smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Haw River Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out back in December of 2024. They took a blow against Lee Christian, falling 56-28.

Haw River Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Father Capodanno, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
