Recap: Cross Trojans vs. Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators
The Cross Trojans stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lowcountry Leadership 97-44 at home. Winning may never get old, but Cross sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Cross' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamez Way, who scored 20 points along with eight assists and eight steals. Way is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Dominick Lampkin was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with three steals.
Josh Thompson and Tabaree Rouse-Bailey certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Thompson scored 12 points, while Rouse-Bailey scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Rouse-Bailey is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played.
Lowcountry Leadership struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cross pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Cross is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Lowcountry Leadership, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Cross will head out on the road to take on Baptist Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Baptist Hill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Cross likes a good challenge. As for Lowcountry Leadership, they will square off against Burke at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Burke presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lowcountry Leadership in South Carolina (Burke is ranked 125th, while Lowcountry Leadership is ranked 298th).
