On Tuesday, Lake Cormorant made easy work of Olive Branch and carried off a 3-0 win.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lake Cormorant took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-15.
Lake Cormorant got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emily Huerta out in front who had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Huerta has posted over her last seven contests. Kayla Gonzalez was another key player, getting ten assists and four aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Lake Cormorant was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olive Branch only served seven.
Meanwhile, Alcorn Central got the win against Booneville on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Alcorn Central was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-10, 25-14.
Lake Cormorant's record now sits at 29-8. As for Alcorn Central, their record is now 19-13-1.
Lake Cormorant came out on top in a nail-biter against Alcorn Central when the teams last played back in August, sneaking past 2-1. Will Lake Cormorant repeat their success, or does Alcorn Central has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
