Lee extended their winning streak to seven on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 16-6 in the process. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Abingdon Falcons. Avery Weston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Addie Taylor was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jayden Kegley, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
As for Abingdon, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 20-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.88 runs allowed.
On Abingdon's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Baker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
