Football Recap: Eldorado Takes a Loss

Eldorado was the 27-22 winner over Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eldorado Firehawks had to suffer through a 54-6 loss at the hands of the Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate.

When it comes to explaining why Eldorado lost on Friday, don't look at Kaliyah Guillory. Despite the final result, she picked up 104 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Aerith Sanchez, who rushed for 104 yards on only 11 carries.

Eldorado didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Guillory and Sanchez. Sanchez's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked her 13th straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.

It was another big night for Tehani Shigematsu, who threw for 256 yards and six touchdowns while completing 87% of her passes, and also rushed for 52 yards for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon. What's more, Shigematsu also racked up 142.4 passer rating, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Manahere Peters was another key player, picking up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Eldorado has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Eldorado will be playing at home against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, they will square off against Virgin Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Virgin Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon likes a good challenge.
