Baseball Recap: Excel Beats Sweet Water for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Excel came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Sweet Water Bulldogs. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 6-4 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Trent Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Excel is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Williams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.

In other pitching news, Lane White looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JP Norris, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Excel's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Sweet Water, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Excel will head out on the road to face off against Leroy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sweet Water, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Thomasville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomasville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Sweet Water surely won't give up without a fight.
