Basketball Game Preview: Westwood Warriors vs. Gila Ridge Hawks

The Westwood Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Gila Ridge Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Westwood has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 20.

On Friday, Westwood was beaten by Mesa 56-23. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Jackrabbits are ranked 71st).

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Gila Ridge duked it out withNavajo Prep back in December of 2024. Gila Ridge was outmatched by Navajo Prep and fell 69-28.

Westwood will have to contain Ella Gettings as she made an impact in Gila Ridge's last game. She went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Gila Ridge's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Westwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Westwood couldn't quite finish off Gila Ridge in their previous matchup back in January of 2015 and fell 39-37. Can Westwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
