Basketball Recap: Lincoln County Comes Up Short

Lincoln County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Wayne Pioneers, falling 83-57. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Pioneers are ranked 22nd).

Isaac Meddings was his usual excellent self, going 10-for-20 to rack up 24 points along with seven boards and six assists for Wayne. Another player making a difference was Colton Preece, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points.

Lincoln County's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Wayne, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Lincoln County and Wayne will both be playing Ripley the next time they take the court. Wayne will head out to face Ripley at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Lincoln County will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
