Westfield barely beat Cranford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Cougars on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Jack Doherty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Charlie McCormack was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Pete Cabrales, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Westfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Westfield's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Cranford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westfield will welcome Hunterdon Central at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cranford, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Governor Livingston at 4:00 p.m. The Highlanders will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
