Softball Recap: National Trail Drops Season-High Score on Oakwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask National Trail). They put the hurt on the Oakwood Lumberjacks with a sharp 18-10 win on Monday. With that victory, the Blazers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Morgan House was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor Reynolds was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Macyn Patton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

National Trail was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

National Trail is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Oakwood, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, National Trail will welcome Dixie at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakwood, they will challenge Archbishop Alter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lumberjacks are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
