Softball Game Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Crest Chargers

McDowell is 0-3 against Crest since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Titans will challenge the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

McDowell's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over T.C. Roberson. The win was familiar territory for the Titans, who have now won four contests in a row.

Crest never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against South Point last Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Red Raiders. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won nine in a row.

Aidan Ledbetter made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Allie Summer was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Josi Downey, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Crest's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for McDowell, their record is now 7-5.

McDowell couldn't quite finish off Crest in their previous matchup back in February and fell 3-1. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
