Baseball Game Preview: Bacon Academy Bobcats vs. Wheeler Lions

The Bacon Academy Bobcats will take on the Wheeler Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Bacon Academy got the win against Ledyard by a conclusive 10-4. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Colonels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Plainfield hit Wheeler with a nine-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 16-15. The loss put an end to the Lions' undefeated start to the season.

Mason Perkins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. James Main was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wheeler fell to 2-1. As for Bacon Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Bacon Academy took their victory against Wheeler in their previous meeting back in April of 2015 by a conclusive 20-2 score. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
