Baseball Game Preview: Needles Mustangs vs. Laughlin Cougars

Needles is 9-1 against Laughlin since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Needles will welcome Laughlin at 1:00 p.m. Needles is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Needles is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Williams just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 10-6 to the Vikings.

Hudson Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Rodriquez Tommy was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Laughlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 34-18 to Awaken Christian. One positive for the Cougars, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Laughlin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Needles, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6-1.

Needles took their victory against Laughlin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0. Does Needles have another victory up their sleeve, or will Laughlin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
