Baseball Recap: Austintown-Fitch Comes Up Short

Austintown-Fitch extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-14 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Alliance Aviators. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since March 25, 2024.

As for Alliance, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Alliance's part, they got a great performance from Cade Blatt as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bo Davis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Reese, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austintown-Fitch will host Ursuline at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Alliance, they will be playing at home against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Royals will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
