Basketball Recap: Annika Baker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Curlew over Inchelium

Curlew's game on Saturday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of the Inchelium Hornets by a score of 40-38. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Curlew lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Annika Baker, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Sarah Strandberg was another key player, putting up 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Curlew's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Inchelium, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Coming up, Curlew will be home for the holidays to greet Republic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Inchelium, they will venture away from home to take on Northport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
