Football Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Poway Titans
Del Norte hasn't had much luck against Poway recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Del Norte Nighthawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Poway Titans at 7:00 p.m.
Del Norte is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 39 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Carlsbad on Friday. They lost 35-9 to the Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Nighthawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Lancers are ranked 42nd).
Meanwhile, Poway waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They breezed by the Bulldogs at home to the tune of 49-7. The contest marked the Titans' most dominant win of the season so far.
Ty Hurst was his usual excellent self, throwing for 328 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Colin McCann was Hurst's top target, picking up 68 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Del Norte's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Poway, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
