Baseball Recap: West Johnston Wildcats vs. Southern Lee Cavaliers
West Johnston extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-11. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southern Lee Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 on Tuesday.
As for Southern Lee, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 19-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
For Southern Lee's part, Parker Bloedorn and Max Andrew Sercy did most of the damage at the plate: Bloedorn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI, while Sercy went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Sercy is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
