Baseball Game Preview: Lower Richland Diamond Hornets vs. Hartsville Red Foxes

For the second straight game, Lower Richland will face off against Hartsville. Lower Richland will be playing in front of their home fans against Hartsville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lower Richland has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lower Richland's offense. They came up short against Hartsville on Tuesday, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Diamond Hornets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Hartsville's part, Jaden Atkinson was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Atkinson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Dorian Mason was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Casey Hawkins was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

The win (which was Hartsville's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Lower Richland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1.
