Baseball Recap: Hubbard Comes Up Short

Hubbard extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 4-10. They came up short against the Axtell Longhorns, falling 24-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Tuesday.

As for Axtell, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.9 runs this season.

For Axtell's part, JP Mendoza was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Mendoza also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Brenner Breton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Hubbard will take on Mart at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Axtell has already played their next contest (against Oglesby), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
