Recap: Beaumont Cougars vs. Citrus Valley Blackhawks

The Beaumont Cougars lost to the Citrus Valley Blackhawks back in January of 2023, but the Beaumont Cougars didn't allow the Citrus Valley Blackhawks the same satisfaction on Friday. Beaumont walked away with a 60-51 win over Citrus Valley. Given Beaumont's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Citrus Valley is ranked 616th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Beaumont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Vince tracy Capuras, who scored 27 points. The matchup was Capuras' third in a row with at least ten points. Payton Joseph was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.

Beaumont's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Citrus Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Beaumont will face off against Redlands East Valley at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Redlands East Valley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Citrus Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Canyon Springs at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th.
