Softball Preview: Triad Cardinals vs. Mechanicsburg Indians
Triad hasn't had much luck against Mechanicsburg recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cardinals will host the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Triad has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Triad is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against West Jefferson, falling 19-2.
Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Cedarville.
Mylee DeLong was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. DeLong was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Keelyn McGhee was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery McDowell, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
The win got Mechanicsburg back to even at 5-5. As for Triad, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
