Baseball Game Preview: Alexandria City Titans vs. Lake Braddock Bruins

Alexandria City is 1-9 against Lake Braddock since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Titans will look to defend their home field against the Bruins at 6:30 p.m. Alexandria City's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Lake Braddock's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Alexandria City's win against West Potomac wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Titans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Wolverines on Tuesday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Lake Braddock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of St. Albans.

Leo Dell'Omo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dom Cuadros was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. CJ Prentiss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Alexandria City pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Braddock, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Alexandria City was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Braddock in their previous matchup back in April, winning 5-1. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Bruins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
