Basketball Game Preview: Harrison Panthers vs. Coronado Cougars

Harrison is on a five-game streak of home losses, Coronado a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers duke it out with the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Harrison came up short against Pueblo East and fell 50-42.

Meanwhile, Coronado also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Mesa Ridge by a score of 50-40. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 23rd).

Harrison will have to keep a close watch on Lyrik Smith and Jalyn Jarboe, a pair of players who had a big impact on Coronado's prior game. Smith posted 13 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Jarboe scored 11 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Omar Dubose, who had four points and three steals.

Harrison's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.

Everything went Harrison's way against Coronado in their previous matchup back in January, as Harrison made off with a 60-37 win. Does Harrison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coronado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
