Basketball Recap: Amory Victorious

Amory hadn't done well against New Albany recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Amory Panthers escaped with a win against the New Albany Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 67-50 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, New Albany still got an impressive performance from Issac Gilbert, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Gilbert is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. Avery Cathey was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Amory's record now sits at 9-11. As for New Albany, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amory will host Tishomingo County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for New Albany, they will face off against Byhalia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
