Baseball Game Preview: West Mecklenburg Hawks vs. Olympic Trojans

West Mecklenburg is 0-10 against Olympic since April of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hawks will look to defend their home field against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. West Mecklenburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

West Mecklenburg's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Harding University with a sharp 19-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Josiah Johnston looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Anthony Echevarria was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Allen German, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

West Mecklenburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Olympic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They came up short against Ardrey Kell, falling 14-2.

Olympic's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for West Mecklenburg, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8.
