Baseball Game Preview: Leland Chargers vs. Westmont Warriors

The Leland Chargers will take on the Westmont Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Leland and nine for Westmont.

On Saturday, Leland didn't have quite enough to beat Santa Clara and fell 8-7.

Caden Canter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Leland is 2-1 when Canter posts two or more runs, but 2-10 otherwise. William Hendricks was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Westmont came up short against Los Altos on Saturday, falling 12-1.

Westmont saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Casillas, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Brandon Marshall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Leland's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Westmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13-1.

Leland couldn't quite get it done against Westmont when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
