Baseball Game Preview: Gorham Rams vs. Deering Rams

Gorham will head out to square off against Deering at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gorham's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Deering's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Gorham is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Scarborough on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Miles Brenner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Brenner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cooper Whitehead and Hunter Finck did most of the damage at the plate: Whitehead went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Finck went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Preston Brown was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Gorham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Deering was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bonny Eagle. Rams fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Scots since Tuesday.

Gorham now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Deering, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Gorham got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Deering by a conclusive 20-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gorham since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
