Baseball Recap: The Colony Drops Season-High Score on Turner

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Colony). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Turner Lions an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Rodrigo Oquendo Arreaza and Colton Wood dominated on the mound. Oquendo Arreaza tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Wood tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Wood a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

On the hitting side, The Colony let Trey Rangel and Riley Stewart run wild. Rangel went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases, while Stewart went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Rangel a new career-high. Caleb Adams was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

The Colony always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for The Colony and bumps their season record up to 16-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Turner, their defeat was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-18.

The Colony will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
