Volleyball Recap: Cornerstone Family Comes Up Short

Cornerstone Family was the 3-0 winner over St. Joseph D when they last played one another on September 11th, but their luck changed this time around. The Saints took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Defenders on Friday. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-19, 27-29, 27-25.

Jayme Jones paced Cornerstone Family's offense, picking up ten kills. Jones also shared the team's lead in assists with Abby Anderson: they picked up five each. Molly Riddle controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Cornerstone Family's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for St. Joseph D, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cornerstone Family is set to challenge their familiar foe Shawnee Mission Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Joseph D will square off against rival Whitefield Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
