Basketball Recap: Winston Salem Christian National Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Riverdale Baptist wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Winston Salem Christian National, they should've done a better job of containing Jocelyne Grier. The Winston Salem Christian National Lions came out on top against the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders by a score of 52-42 on Monday thanks in part to Grier, who posted 19 points and seven rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

J'Niya Weaver was another key player, putting up six points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That's the most boards she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Riverdale Baptist's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ariana Meriedy, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Za'Hria Higginbotham, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Winston Salem Christian National and bumps their season record up to 16-3. As for Riverdale Baptist, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.

Winston Salem Christian National didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-28 win against TPLS Christian Academy on the 4th. As for Riverdale Baptist, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-29 victory against Salem on the 4th.
