Softball Recap: Fayetteville Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

In Thursday's Canine Competition, Fayetteville came out on top. They never let the Winterboro Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Thursday. That's the first time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 18-2 win on Thursday.

Not much got past Lauren Cook, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Winterboro off the board. Cook has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lucy Epperson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

The victory made it two in a row for Fayetteville and bumps their season record up to 6-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Winterboro, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fayetteville beat the Bulldogs by a score of 18-2 later that day.
