Marshall has gone 9-1 against El Monte recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Lions at 3:15 p.m. Marshall's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so El Monte's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Marshall earned a 9-6 win over Arroyo.

Michael Gerst tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Marshall got a big performance out of Adan Castro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Castro has posted since back in March of 2024. Ben Muro was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, El Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 30th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Mountain View, falling 8-2.

El Monte saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cesar Castro, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that Castro scored this season.

Marshall pushed their record up to 10-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for El Monte, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Marshall took their victory against El Monte in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
