Basketball Game Preview: University Trojans vs. St. Margaret's Tartans

The University Trojans will head out to face off against the St. Margaret's Tartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 25.

On Friday, University ended up a good deal behind Mission Viejo and lost 54-39. The Trojans were down 40-18 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Eli Pretto, who posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Those 13 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shervin Moarrefian, who had 15 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed St. Margaret's with a 61-36 loss courtesy of Capistrano Valley on Friday. The game marked the Tartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Margaret's and nudges their season record down to 7-10. As for University, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

University came up short against St. Margaret's when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 62-58. Can University avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
