Preview: Arroyo Knights vs. El Monte Lions
Arroyo has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the El Monte Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Arroyo suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Gabrielino, falling 57-28. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arroyo in their matchups with Gabrielino: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, El Monte suffered a rough 66-46 loss at the hands of South El Monte on Friday. El Monte has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Arroyo has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for El Monte, they bumped their record down to 2-20 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Arroyo strolled past El Monte when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 49-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arroyo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
