Basketball Game Preview: Columbus International Lions vs. Grove City Christian Eagles

Columbus International hasn't had much luck against Grove City Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Columbus International Lions will be playing at home against the Grove City Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Columbus International is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 34th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-42 heartbreaker at the hands of Madison Christian.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Grove City Christian faced off against Horizon Science Academy on Thursday. Grove City Christian fell just short of Horizon Science Academy by a score of 55-53.

Columbus International will have to keep a close watch on Jadunn Harris and Landon Brunicardi, a pair of players who had a big impact on Grove City Christian's prior game. Harris went 11-for-21 on his way to 26 points and eight boards, while Brunicardi posted 15 points and five rebounds. Those eight rebounds gave Harris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josiah Harmeyer, who put up seven points and six assists.

Columbus International's loss dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Grove City Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9.

Columbus International might still be hurting after the 69-43 loss they got from Grove City Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Columbus International, Seth Vaughn (who went 11-for-23 en route to 27 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
