Volleyball Recap: Maret Falls Short Against Ranked Jackson-Reed

Maret faced Jackson-Reed in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Frogs fell 3-1 to the Tigers. The loss continues a trend for the Frogs in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-14, 13-25, 25-17.

Jackson-Reed was led to victory by Carys Gray and Layla Hernandez. Gray had five digs and five aces, while Hernandez had 12 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Gray has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Tyaja James, who had 11 assists and four aces.

Maret's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Jackson-Reed, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4-1.

Looking ahead, Maret will face off against Holton-Arms at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jackson-Reed has already played their next matchup (against Woodson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
