Basketball Recap: Westminster Academy Falls Short of Riviera Prep in the Playoffs

Westminster Academy and Riviera Prep squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Westminster Academy had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 76-75 to the Riviera Prep Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Alex Constanza and Alexander Lloyd certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Constanza shot 6-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double with 39 points and ten boards, while Lloyd went 6-for-10 to rack up 25 points. Lloyd's evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Branden Sharpe was another key player, putting up seven points.

Westminster Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Riviera Prep, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-10.

Westminster Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riviera Prep, they will face off against Miami Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miami Country Day knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 games -- so hopefully Riviera Prep likes a good challenge.
