Softball Recap: Mayville's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Mayville unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oakfield Oaks. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 6-2 to the Oaks when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Allie Schwirtz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Addie Anderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Mayville's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Oakfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayville will square off against Lomira at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakfield, they will head out to take on Appleton East at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
