Softball Recap: Easton Area Comes Up Short

Easton Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Freedom Patriots. That's two games in a row now that the Rovers have lost by just one run.

Audrey Rinda spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Thalia Burns and Faith Zimmerman did some serious damage despite the final result: Burns went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI, while Zimmerman went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Easton Area's record is now 8-7. As for Freedom, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Easton Area is set to face off against their familiar foe Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rovers 3.3, the Hurricanes 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Freedom will square off against rival Bethlehem Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
