Baseball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Has No Trouble Against Roanoke Catholic

Eastern Montgomery won the last time they faced Roanoke Catholic and things went their way on Thursday too. The Eastern Montgomery Mustangs were the clear victor by a 17-6 margin over the Roanoke Catholic Celtics.

Marshall Tate and Coltin Conner were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Tate pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Conner pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. What's more, Tate posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Tate went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Conner scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Eastern Montgomery got a massive performance out of Austin Tate, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Tate has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caleb Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Eastern Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roanoke Catholic only posted an OBP of .375.

Eastern Montgomery now has a winning record of 1-0-1. As for Roanoke Catholic, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Eastern Montgomery will square off against Giles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Roanoke Catholic, they will challenge Blue Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Roanoke Catholic is facing Blue Ridge at the right time seeing as Blue Ridge is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
