Softball Recap: New Albany Eagles vs. Dublin Coffman Shamrocks

New Albany lost against Dublin Coffman back in April of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The New Albany Eagles fell 8-5 to the Dublin Coffman Shamrocks. New Albany has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lexsie Fleming was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.

At the plate, Zoe Oakleaf and Izzy White stepped up to the plate in a big way. Oakleaf scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while White scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Oakleaf is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Bowersock, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

New Albany's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Dublin Coffman, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

As of now, neither New Albany nor Dublin Coffman have any future games scheduled.
