2020 Clemson commit DJ Uiagalelei and No. 3 Braves get things started against Liberty in a four-game Las Vegas showcase.

The Polynesian Football Classic continues to grow each year with big-time games and the 2019 showcase is led by a showdown between No. 3 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) and Liberty (Henderson, Nev.).

This event features six 5-stars and a boatload of players with offers from Power 5 schools led by DJ Uiagalelei, Kelee Ringo, Darnell Washington, Kris Hutson, and Rome Odunze.

Things kick off Friday night and on Saturday three games will be on tap with all four games at Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and you can watch all the action here. We will be there covering the event so make sure and follow MaxPreps (@MaxPreps) and Zack Poff (@Zack_Poff_MP) during the two days.

2019 Polynesian Football Classic

7 p.m. Friday (All time local)

Top Players

St. John Bosco: QB DJ Uiagalelei (6-4.5, 245), WR Kris Hutson (5-10.5, 175), OL Drake Metcalf (6-2, 275), LB Kourt Williams (6-1, 215), WR Logan Loya (5-11.5, 185)

Liberty: ATH Zyrus Fiaseu (6-1, 200), TE Moliki Matavao (6-6, 240), WR Germie Bernard (6-1, 185), LB Zephaniah Maea (6-1, 230), CB Donte Bowers Jr. (5-10, 165)

Liberty opened up with two tough games and face its toughest test of the year against the No. 3 team in the country. They have to take down Southern California power St. John Bosco to avoid an 0-3 start. The Braves have been rolling this year. Uiagalelei has shown why he's the No. 1 rated quarterback in the country as the reigning California Gatorade Football Player of the Year has throw for nearly 600 yards and seven touchdowns. St. John Bosco has dominated two big-time programs beating DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) and Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) to open the 2019 season outscoring them by a combined score of 91-28.

Logan (Utah) vs. Desert Pines (Las Vegas)
Saturday, noon

Top Players

Logan: S Chris Shopbell (6-0, 185), WR Jaylen Sargent (6-1, 160), RB Kade Thornley (5-9, 180), LB Andrew Thompson (6-1, 195), ATH Isaac Larsen (5-11, 160)

Desert Pines: TE Darnell Washington (6-7.5, 260), DE Jonathan Pickett (6-3, 240), DE Gabriel Lopez (6-3, 225), OL Tiaoalii Savea (6-4.5, 250), ATH Michael Jackson (6-0, 190)

This could be the season a Nevada team finally tests Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) in the playoffs. Desert Pines is loaded and rolled past last year's 4A state runner-up Bishop Manogue (Reno) 34-11 in its opener. Washington checks in as No. 1 rated tight end in the Class of 2020 and they have more than 10 players with FBS offers. After starting the year 0-2 Logan bounced back with a 44-21 win over Preston (Idaho) and has to beat a very talented Jaguars team to get back to .500.

Saturday, 4 p.m.

Top Players

Saguaro: CB Kelee Ringo (6-2, 205), DE Quintin Somerville (6-3, 230), WR Matt Polk (6-4, 210), CB Jacobe Covington (6-1, 190), LB Damian Sellers (6-4, 235)

Faith Lutheran: LB Hunter Kaupiko (6-0, 225), ATH Julian Rohan (5-9, 160), WR Peyton Thornton (6-1, 215), S Dana White III (5-11, 160), S Noah Vernon (6-0, 190)

Saguaro looks to bounce back after an 18-10 Honor Bowl loss against a very good Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) squad last week. Faith Lutheran started its season out with a lopsided 40-17 loss against Mountain Pointe (Phoenix) and faces another Arizona opponent on Saturday. The Sabercats have won six consecutive state titles and with the talent they have this year expect them to be in contention to make it seven in a row even with the new Open Division in Arizona.

Saturday, 8 p.m.

Top Players

Servite: TE Jake Overman (6-3, 230), DE Tristen Wilson (6-2, 195), OL Nicholas Martinez (6-6, 300), WR Tetairoa Mcmillan (6-3, 185), ATH Noah Avinger (5-11, 165)

Bishop Gorman: WR Rome Odunze (6-2, 200), QB Micah Bowens (6-0, 195), RB Cam Barfield (5-9, 175), WR Zachariah Branch (5-8, 160), S Zion Branch (6-2.5, 190)

This one is featured in our Top 10 Games of the Week and the Vegas power has a couple of huge games coming up. They need to make a statement against its last two out-of-state opponents and it starts with a very talented Servite team in the Saturday nightcap. If they win big against the Friars, and answer that with a win against the defending Utah 6A state champs Lone Peak (Highland), there's a good chance they jump back into the Top 25. Servite opened its season with a 48-7 win over JW North (Riverside, Calif.) and the Gaels had their 11-game winning streak snapped against No. 8 St. Louis (Honolulu) in the Aloha Football Classic last week.
