Baseball Recap: Taylor Comes Up Short

After flying high against Crescent City last Friday, Taylor came back down to earth. The Taylor Wildcats fell just short of the Mainland Buccaneers by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Buccaneers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Peyton Fender made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Alex Ramos was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Taylor's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mainland, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Taylor will host Atlantic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mainland, they are taking a road trip to square off against Seabreeze at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
